I'm not big on politics, but this is one movie you should spend $9.50 on. It opens in theaters tomorrow, so clear up your schedules and go buy the tickets!

For those who haven't heard the buzz/controversy about this movie, here's the trailer. http://www.fahrenheit911.com/trailer/

Congrats Orion, you've pointed out one of the only negative reviews of F-9/11. I really don't get this: The article is well written, verbose and to the point. How, if this person is educated as he seems to be, could the author be so ignorant to the corruption of our government and the stupidity of our president.

I think he just hate's to admit, like most conservatives, that AMERICA IS NOT PERFECT!

Here's a newsflash for you guys: WE'RE NOT NUMBER ONE! Get over it...

You do realize that a lot of those 'Americans' are on this very site at this very moment ... right?

some of the recent comments sound awfully anti-American.....well I'm American....you hate me, too? What have I ever done to you???

Recognizing the idiocy of Moore and the gullibility of those who buy into his propaganda does not equate to believing that America is perfect.

Some of us, shockingly, think that the world (and especially Iraq) is a lot better off with Saddam not in power.

Moore's nonsense has always appealed most to people who already think the United States is the center of evil in the world. It has very little logical basis in fact.

Moore is the kind of guy who would write "20% of sick days are on a Friday!" leading someone to believe that people are sluffing off on Friday. Those gullible people would then shoot the messenger who reminds them that there are 5 work days and therefore 1 day out of 5 = 20%.

In fact, in the movie, Moore has a caption that explains how Bush has not been working "45%" of the time between January 1 and September 11. The gullible will say "Ooh, see, he doesn't even work" despite the fact that the quote came from a tongue in cheek Washington Post story pointing out that if you add Bush's working vacation (in which he met with foreign leaders) and COUNT weekends that he's been off 45%.

Meanwhile, the typical Frenchman, with 8 weeks of vacation each year (mostly taken by the end of August) has taken off (wait for it) about 45% at that same point in the year which is certainly not a working vacation.

"Did you know that the average so-called full time worker is only workign 23% of the time?" (40 hours per week / total # of hours per week).  Moore's manipulation of the "facts" are rarely that obvious but you add it up and serve it to an audience desperate to believe anything negative about the US or Bush and voila.

Those of us who follow politics and world affairs don't need to be reeducated by the likes of Moore.

I doubt it's anti-American for macrobaye, it's more than likely anti "blind patriotism" [at least to him?] I'm not speaking for anyone else, but that is certainly my interpretation. I suspect macrobaye LOVES America and might not even move if given the chance.. but I also suspect he doesn't mind seeing things how they areunbiased and impartial. A great many Canadians I know [I'm Canadian, too] think CANADA is the world's best country.. Well, can this person [or anyone?] look into their mirrors and ask themselves "Is this REALLY the world's best country"?
on Jun 29, 2004

Getting into what the "Best" country in the world is a meaningless discussion. How do you define "best"? So much depends on who you are, the circumstances of your birth, etc.

But to say one is "better" than another country gets difficult if the two countries in comparison are even remotely equal on any level.

I think rank nationalism is unconstructive.  Look at WinCustomize.com as an example. It is a website based in the United States, whose administrators are in Australia, Canada, Brazil, and elsewhere and has skinners/graphics designers from around the world.

The person who is blindly anti-< country here> is at a great disadvantage compared to the person who is open to working with the best and brightest from around the world.

THAT is why I don't like Michael Moore. He's a hateful person. He hates things. He doesn't want to build things. He likes to tear things down.

I prefer to work with other people and build great things with them. Not sit around and gather like minded people to my cause and shred those I oppose based on idealogical considerations.

*is waiting for the day all the anti-Moore people come up with a better film that appeals to more people in more countries that effectively dispells many of the "lies" and "propaganda" that Moore seems to thrive on. Bottom line: You hate the BackstreetBoys?[for example.. ] FINE, make your own group, get someone else to write better songs, and become more than they've ever become.

Ya hate a particular writer or journalist? FINE, do better.

Those who are emphatically against Moore and his messages should really bind together and make a film that exposes Moore, think ya can do it? Put your money where your mouth [hands] are.

Like I said, everyone had some disdain for Mark Lane when he exposed the lies and misinformation of the Warren Commissions report on the assassination because it made America ask itself an important question - a question it would have preferred to keep hidden or pretend it didn't exist.

Personally, I'm more American than I am Canadian hehe.. [Canadians hate me for this..] So I hope none of my comments are interpreted as anti-America because it's simply not true. Ask my neighbor [a lawyer here] who has to look at my permanently bottom-lit American flag blowing at high mast in my yard if I'm anti-America hahaha [gotta love e-bay]

Heck, I'll make a timely quote from Gilles Duceppe made just last night after the election. From memory, so it's by all means not an exact quote, but it goes something like this:
"No country is the best country in the World. Each country offers what's best for its own population. France is the best country for the French, Germany the best country for the German, Great Britain the best country for the British, The United States the best country for our American neighbours, and Canada is the best country for Canadians." Then the added the expected (Duceppe being an Quebec independantist) "And Quebec is no different than any other country, it's the best country for the Quebecois".

So, American friends, be proud of your country, it's the country you have. Be thankful for the good and be critical for the bad.

Spyder,

The problem is that statistically, conservatives don't tend to take on careers in the media.  We're too busy with real jobs.

I don't object to Moore's drivel. He's free to make it. Just as I'm free to ridicule it and those who believe it.

I'm just dissapointed, at first i thought it was a movie on that old novel, about how books were outlawed and such.
