I was wondering what causes the pink box and how do I make it go away? I reinstalled Stardock Central...but that didn't work. I'm not even sure what program that is, I don't have anything set to load at startup besides DX. So, now I'm confused...any ideas?

Hmmm...ok..check Task Manager and see if Sdmcp.exe is running..

They just came out with it not that long ago...so it's a first for all.

In SDC Tools/Settings make sure both MCP startup options are checked

Here's a history of MCP:

0.60
----

v.52:

-Not showing startup/launching apps for some people fixed
-WinLogon portion moved to mcpstub.dll

v.51:
-SmartStartup no longer launches during safe mode.
-Purple icon issue fixed
-'Startup Manager 1.0' changed to 'SmartStartup'.
-SmartStartup can now be hidden by pressing the
Escape key. Components will still be launched,
however the status will not be visible.

I think that MCP install might be doing it...you can try this if you want and see if it corrects your version, although an SDC un-install, re-boot, re-install would probably be more successful...try this http://mi.stardock.com/private/mcp_notfound.exe and if it doesn't fix it then do the SDC song and dance.

just hit the dern computer and yell at it.

Gary...just sung the SDC song...I'm afraid the dancing will have to go. I don't dance. Still nada meng...

The install was fudged up and I had to delete the folder mnanually, then rebooted, installed fresh...rebooted again.

So maybe it's a file in another folder that needs replacing? /Common Files/Stardock maybe?

I know this is something simple...just can't put a finger on it. My guess (and I do mean guess) is that for whatever reason that is the WC icon and since you don't have it, you're getting the purple thingy. The funny thing is, no one else has brought it up. If everything is working and you just don't want to see it...when it comes up hit 'Esc' and that should be the last you see of it.

BTW: I don't dance either

Yea, its really not that big-a-deal. I've dealt with it for the last month, so it's really nothing. It probably is something stupidly simple...but oh well.

Btw, wanna know why I dont dance? Well, I'll tell you anyway. Back in Junior High School, it was 8th grade dance, before we went to high school. I was always a badass in school, so me and my friends (naturally) managed to get a bottle of liquor that night...got really drunk. Then like fools, we got on the dance floor and started making asses of ourselves. I ended up puking my guts out all over the floor...and nearly got expelled. Ever since then, I don't dance.

Hey Gary, theres a chance I might not read your reply tonight if you post one. But honestly man, its really nothing...you dont have to worry about it. I can deal with the pink box...out of sight, out of mind, right? You really go above the notion of helping...just want you to know its very appreciated. Thanks man...
